That's what I said...that's the only way I could let them know in the auction which hanging lamp I wanted for my bid of $15...All the lamps were up very high and this one caught my eye...it was ugly it was the only way to describe it..the guy kept pointing to diff ones and I kept saying no.. that one! and then I said it.. the ugly one.. and he turned right to it.... people gave looks and whispered...I saw them in the corner of my eye when he pulled it down... but I thought I could do something with it..My eyes kept going up to that lamp all thru the auction...I just had to have it....
Here is a picture of my "next" project
I already primed it white..I could not take a picture of how it looked when I brought it home...poor thing...so here is a picture of it in the first stage! I think I can make her pretty..I have been toying with the idea of a drum hanging lamp over my kitchen table..which is odd because I am more a chandelier girl...but....
I keep her on my kitchen table to my husbands dismay..and stare at her as I walk by...waiting for my inspiration...Well what do you think ?? Can you see it??? Be kind! :-)

Hmm... I am not creative like you so I am just going to wait and see what you come up with.
You saw the beauty in the ugly one so I know it will be gorgeous when you clean her up good!!
fabulous, dahlin! simply fabulous! i LOVE it!!! and you sounded just like me, shouting out THE UGLY ONE! love that you said that!!! and i do love the lamp - the inspiration will come when you least expect it - and pictures when you finish!
I think she is already on her way to becoming a dining room "show stopper!" Just needs the Marlene touch.....can't wait until her unveiling!
Can't wait to see the final results....I persoally like the idea of a drum light over the table....I mean, everyone has chandeliers.....this is awesome!

Ok girl, your going to have to show me the when you pretty her up. LOL Really, I have brought things home before that made my husband doubt my sanity & made it amazing so I have no doubt you will too. The fabric you asked about is so cheap. I bought it at Joanns Fabric, Hobby Lobby has it too. Think it was $14. yard. Do you have those stores? I see the chairs, it would look cute. Lisa
Will be waiting to see Makeover Part II on the lamp. I almost hafta cringe knowing that back in the 70s (?) the ugly one was so "in" --- I think I had a set of dining room chairs that would have matched it!ha! Bonne chance.
I can't wait to see what you transform this into! :)
