To paint or not to paint.. that is the question....

Found this great dresser at a sale for only $40. Its in great condition..of course I want to paint it

I have had suggestions from all my girlfriends to paint it.. I am seeing this in a warm beige with brown stain like Tiina has in Dream in Cream... ( I am in love with the Headborad she did!) of course every male that sees this.. says NO! don't paint it!! you can't!!! so it sits in my living room so I can stare at it everyday and decidee.....to paint or not to paint...that is the question...Any suggestions out there?????
